Wyrd Spirits Gin Distillery with JET2Holidays
Wyrd Spirits are an award wining local New Forest distillery who are the only distillery inside the National Park. With over 30 years experience, head distiller Mark and team create small batch gin for local businesses and the public. I was invited along by JET2 Holidays to try making my own gin with a distillery class and a cocktail making lesson.

I met a group of fellow bloggers and content creators at Wryd Spirits and spent a few hours learning the ropes. We covered the history of gin and its origins and what actually goes into gin. How to smell what kind of gin you have.
We each had a selection of jars filled with various ingredients, i felt like a witchy apothecary surrounded by a coven. I purely went on smell for my choices and ended up with a spicy gin, with a hint of grapefruit. Wyrd Spirits only uses natural ingredients, no added sweeteners of amplifiers which made this experience even cooler. We then distilled our choices and watched as our neat gin poured into our bottles. We diluted our mixture to bring down the alcohol content and set about taste testing. I’m surely bias as i thought mine was great.
We finished with a break for lunch, a healthy spread provided by the New Forest Foodie. Huge scotch eggs, salmon sandwiches, little skewers of tomatoes and cheese my favourite was the mushroom focaccia/ tart.
Completing the day with cocktail class using our gin. I made a Tom Colin’s with Mark’s instruction and anecdotal stories about our cocktails. the final cocktail was a Jet2 Jetsetter: gin, aperol, passionfruit and vanilla shaken with ice. I’m heading over to Waitrose to get some mixers for some at hope cocktail slinging.
I don’t remember the last time i had cocktails. Maybe in Edinburgh back in May. But now i want a cocktail by the beach somewhere hot. So Hey Hey and I are looking at holidays for 2025.
Jet 2 Hoildays are operating from bournemouth now so we can book a break with ease. I’m thinking Mallorca or maybe somewhere neither of us have been together. But somewhere warm for sea swimming, evening drinks, shopping and a museum or two.
I’ve already earmarked Reykjavik and Prague as two places I want to visit in 2025.
Where shall we go in 2025? leave a comment with ideas.

I said yes!
