Countryside Midi Dress

Weather permitting this would have been the best outfit for the sky. The sun was out, there were Disney clouds in the sky but it was WINDY!! The jumper came on, the heels were replaced with boots. Also, this look was going to be shot in a better location, a little more editorial but I guess my pato terrace is ok. I’m really looking into shooting more editorial content for my blog. It’s motivating my personal style to be more story lead, more costume-like. The clip/slide trend is heavenly and I found my old clips and threw my hair up into one.

This outfit/ daily look reminds me of a farmers wife in the ’50s going into the town to get supplies.

Dress over Jeans

Dress – worn as top Thrifted | jeans – Primark | jacket – LOTD.com PR gift a while ago | bag – Yumi | trainers – Vans | Sunglasses – Primark

Contemplating if the weather is warm enough to wear dresses. Technically I am wearing a dress in these shots, but it’s tucked into some blue ripped jeans. The jeans are too big for me, but I lost the receipt so couldn’t return them or even exchange them ( thanks Primark ) And pink Vans that it looks like I’m never taking off, I did wear some cute metallic sandals but my feet were destroyed within 20 mins. Again wearing jeans, I’m trying so hard to not wear jeans. I’m finding them so boring at the moment and really stopping my styling abilities because they are too safe.

Nude and Pink

Trainers – Vans | jeans – Primark | shirt – Zara | Jacket – LOTD.com ( a PR gift a while ago ) | scarf – Oliver Bonas | Purse – Lulu Guinness

styling nude shirts with pink trainers mixing the two really juxtapose the two. The crisp formality of the shirt ( and jacket ) against the Vans is some of my favourite styling traits. The formal and casual working together or against each other.

Styling aims for the summer are to be more sartorial in my choices, to stop wearing black jeans all the time. and play around with costume styling like I remember doing years ago.

Fortified

Valentines Day is an opportunity for me to find my true north again. To refocus my attention on the things and people I love. Walking to a castle looking out on to the sea was a very fitting activity to do this Valentine’s day. This year Hayden and I are planning so many exciting life-changing things. So to show you this outfit at a forte fortifies my decisions. For my life and life with Hayden.

Minty

includeds gifted items

Found this forgotten part of a shopping centre walking through it the other day. I love the 80’s tiling, it’s a huge contrast to the rest of the centre. It’s been through a lot of modernisation, but this is the best part. The perfect place to showcase this mint pussy blouse I bought from a vintage store in Florence. The blouse is actually from Elena Miro, a plus size brand but whatever you know. Is a 16 is now plus size, cool?

I am so drawn to mint at the moment, often picking up knits and T’s in minty tones and shades whenever out shopping. But they were never right. I love the styling of this blouse though. The ruffled sleeves, long bow ties. Style bows undone for a more relaxed less office look. Less taking notes, more getting drinks. Tucked in to develop the style into frayed jeans. Also highlighting the ties and their length. The jacket was a gift from LOTD.com over a year ago ( new guidelines, how am I doing?) But have no obligation to post anything about it anymore apart from that it’s a sick jacket that I love. And buckle slippers from a vintage store in Florence.

Diner Girl

Cami – Next | Jeans – Primark | Heels – H! Henry Holland

Styling silky delicate camis that should belong in the bedroom. This checked slip cami is a Next pyjama top from the boxing day sales. It looks exactly like a lot of Zara camis at the moment. paired with ripped hem jeans and a gorgeous pair of heeled sandals. These heels are everything! From H! Henry Holland but bought from Oxfam online. Such a classic look with a great amount of height. A more sexy look than usual and I love it. A bit of flesh, lace and bondage sandaled heels.

The location was right next to our hotel while in Florence. It’s endlessly big and fun. Waitresses skate your order to and from you while busboys in diner uniforms sling cokes your way. The food was great too. I had the Californian chicken burger and it was delicious. A nice spicy kick and a Dr Pepper to wash it down.

Two full days in Florence consisted of ice cream, pizza, vintage shopping and laughing. The purpose of the trip was to spend a day at Pitti Filati, a yarn/knitting trade show. Getting to experience what it’s like to be a buyer and be surrounded by industry.

Hello again my old friend ( the Duomo) I can to Florence for the day years ago with my parents and it was a magical experience to marvel at the detail of this building. Its dome can be seen just by the hotel we stayed in this time. The beautiful pink and green pattern is next level inspiration to colour clash in my styling.

One look that I loved wearing was this checked look. Coordination is so much more fun then I thought it could ever be. The different brown checks compliment each other match into that this amazing creamy knitted jumper. Effortless matching and muted tones. Yes completely contrasted with these new checked Vans from the Schuh sale. I’ve lusted after a pair of checked Vans for what feels like a millennium. To finally have a pair is so pleasing I cannot tell you. Styling wise, it’s not the best, a cream shoe or brown would have looked chicer. But I only bought with me these Vans and a pair of heels.

Twenty Five

Currently writing this post in my hotel room in Florence at 23:00 watching La Porto Rossa.

New Forest location for my birthday outfit shots. These two ponies were the best models I could have asked for. The heavenly dress is Monsoon, from the Boxing Day sale, New Look shoes and Topshop wool coat. The best part of the outfit is the bag, Stella McCartney top handle clutch.

Shots were taken the day after my birthday as no full-length photos were taken. Really enjoying finding more interesting places to shoot looks. What do you think?

At university, you make a lot of mood boards, I mean A LOT.  Colour pallets, mood boards, InDesign becomes your best friend. This post should have been called When Life Imitates Universtiy. The colour pallet in these shots and the shadowing are motivational (for me) to try and find new places to shoot. The location is as important as the outfit when blogging.

Pocketing, is that a word? Well, I’m seeing it all over and am so inspired. The utility styling of square pockets really elevates a basic t-shirt. I’m looking to create a serious pocket shirt collection.

Color Matte

The new Addition.

Blue toned lipstick, not Joey Tribbiani’s famous Japanese blue lipstick commercial, more Mädchen Amick in the early 90’s. Her strong brows, messy long hair and deep red/brown lips are so much of an inspiration right now. This Color Matte lipstick in 636 ( Mahogany Stud) from Loreal Paris is exactly what I was looking for. The blue tone makes your teeth look white so a bonus really. Stays on almost all day. I tested it out at work and it lasted pretty well. From talking to drinking and eating the staying power was pretty great.

The packaging is chic as ever, aged black leather style with gold hardware, it’s stepped right out of the 90’s for sure. The most satisfying click close too. I believe my mother had a similar lipstick in this packaging, it was so elegant and dramatic.
