Sunday Lunch

Need a new Sunday lunch spot? I think I’ve found you the place. BEEFY’s by Sir Ian Botham at Ageas Bowl in Southampton. A beautiful restaurant perfect for couples and families to enjoy some great food with a wonderful view. A wall of windows looks out on to the cricket grounds. Hayden and I were invited to have Sunday lunch which we of course accepted. Some quality time just the two of us.

We ate from the Sunday set lunch menu. I had spiced parsnip soup, my favourite soup in the whole world. Hayden chose the fishcake, which he loved but wanted more of.

We both chose the half roast chicken with family style veg and potatoes. The beautiful chicken was perfectly bronzed. There was some sort of aromatic spice which was fantastic. The family style veg was served lightly in butter. Delicious!

If you decide on the 3-course set (you really should) here is your pudding table. All the heart eyes. Hayden and I talked at great length as to whether we could get more than one pudding. Our waiter sort of said we could but in general terms so we just sampled everything. Which is terribly naughty and totally worth it. I had the pink tart and the apple pie. My two favourite puds on the whole planet, minus Veinetta.

Hayden reported back from across the table that the black forest gateau was the best.

An added touch that really created a lovely atmosphere in the restaurant was the live music. Two chaps one with a sax and one with a keyboard. Playing what I guess you would call smooth jazz. I know nothing about jazz. I’d love to come back the BEEFY when some cricket is on and see the place come to life.

*we were invited to come and have Sunday lunch by BEEFY’s. A discount was given, but as always all opinions are my own.
