The Nici Bournemouth
My 28th Birthday celebration dinner at The Nici Bournemouth. A newly refurbished hotel on the sea front. Interiors are a nod to Miami and the carefree beachy style that Miami is known for with a Bournemouth twist.
Dinner was in their Southbeach restaurant. A chic room with muted walls in a cream and beige banana leaf style pattern. Accented with bright orange and gold cutlery. To get the the restaurant you walk though the secluded lounge with its decadent deep colouring into a lighter room with mood lighting and floor to ceiling glass windows and doors leading the the decking and lawn. I can’t wait to return in summer and have dinner out there watching the sun set sky.
For dinner Hayden and I had the Ham Hock Mac & Cheese which is a side dish, but you really should have it as a starter. I had the Southern Fried Chicken Bao Bun – with corn salsa and hot sauce. They were both really delicious and perfect starters. We both couldn’t decide on mains as the IPA Battered Fish and Chips, a Red Snapper fillet , Crushed Minty Peas, Triple Cooked Chips, Tartare Sauce. Sounded amazing and the Wagyu Beef Burger – Brioche, Salsa, Swiss Cheese, Grilled Onion, Fries was also a huge contender as Hayden loves burgers. We decided to order both and share. The fish batter was crunchy and flavourful, the tartare sauce was warm. Which I’m not used to but it was exactly what the fish and chips needed. The triple cooked chips are possibly the best chips I’ve had in a long time. The burger was juicy and perfectly paired with the salsa and cheese. I couldn’t recommend them enough. We also had the Picpoul de Pinet from Le Beau Flamant.
