Dinner with Brewhouse & Kitchen – Autumn Menu

I sometimes find it hard to be a personal style creator/blogger/writer/stylist, alot of my time is spent by myself and around people who don’t really understand why I’m on my phone all the time or want an outfit shot taken. However sometimes you get together with like minded people, and it’s the more rewarding thing ever, more importantly with bloggers and creators. I’ve been part of the Bournemouth blogger network for year and years and have met so many cool people that I love. Yes, I read their blogs on the regular too. Bournemouth bloggers were invited to try the new Brewhouse and Kitchen menu. Our location was, you guessed it, the Bournemouth location.

We were taken to our table upstairs , which had beautiful views of the Bournemouth at sunset. The vibe of B&K  is super relaxed and quirky. With bottle lighting and cinema light boxed advertising what beer they have to offer. I think the aesthetics of a place really decided for you if you’ll be returning. I definitely will. We were greeted with a glass of prosecco, which for me quickly changed to root beer. Tara from Face the Fun ordered an actual beer which she loved. I believe Bewhouse and Kitchen craft their own beer.

I’m someone who loves a starter but can never stomach a started and a main. But can’t bare missing out a main meal. B&K have really shown me that I can have starters and not feel left out.

From the starters I tried, and believe me there were alot, the bruschetta -with heritage tomato and basil pesto was fantastic. The mini goat’s cheese and roasted shall coulis were delicious served with crostini. Two starters that you would more classical see on a menu were really delicious. The black pudding scotch eggs were so flavourful that I really didn’t taste the ‘black pudding’ element which is a relief. Of course I wouldn’t be myself if I didn’t mention ribs. The sticky half stack of ribs – English style ale were of course the favourite. I’m a creature of habit, what can I say?

After indulging just a little too much, it was time for the mains. A plethora of different cuisines came to our table. To sample everything would have been a mammoth task. My selections were based off of what I wanted to sample and trying new things. To me a burger is pretty much a burger unless you go artisan and pay the price. For a change I tried the veggie burger with a vegan bun. Which really blew me away, the bun was a little dry but it was still so tasty. I’m sure I’d get it again next time and shock everyone with my choices.

The B&K Classic burger

The Lamb, Pea & Mint Pie. Super tasty but I’m sure I’m allergic to pea so didn’t really have that much.

The best Caeser Salad I think I’ve ever had.

Tried the Chargrilled broccoli and  Quinoa salad and don’t rate it at all. It is one of the two main dishes that are vegan and gluten free so it has it’s merits. I would have preferred it as a warmed salad.

The mother load! A full stack of ribs with mini cobs and homemade slaw. Again can’t go wrong with ribs at all, they have been made to total perfection. But skip the slaw, you don’t need it.

The veggie burger with vegan bun. It’s a stacked burger, six veggies in this bad boy. It still felt like I was eating a hearty meat burger but way healthier. Would have moved to have had the whole thing to myself and added the slaw into the burger for extra veggies and to take the edge of the dry bun.

An honourable mention comes to another veggie dish that I loved, the wild mushroom and thyme risotto that came on a butternut squash. A dish with some many of my favourite things in it. Mushroom, risotto rice, butternut squash. The squash was a little al dente. I don’t you can’t say that about food that isn’t rice of pasta but it was a little to the tooth for me. I’m used to it being mush softer. But still such a good dish, no picture because Tara had already gone to town cutting it into nine for us to all sample some.

Lemon and Garlic Roast chicken.

Our pudding taster was a chocolate and orange tart with vegan vanilla ice-cream. So delicious I personally find alot of chocolate vegan puddings very corse is texture but this was a smooth delight and the vegan Ice cream could rival any dairy one.

Thoroughly stuffed we wandered into the garden to admire the beach huts and have a group photo and of course outfit shots for me.

A thoroughly enjoyable evening with the best food, company and staff. I can’t wait to come back and try the christmas menu and maybe sample some beer next time.

Thank you to Brewhouse & Kitchen for having me.

Of course thank you to Emma and the Bournemouth bloggers for making the evening so much fun and organising everything.

Dare To Mask with The Body Shop

I’ve been using products from The Body Shop for years, quite possibly they were the first skin care brand I bought from. So when The Body Shop Southampton hosted a blogger event I had to be there.

The event was in celebration of their new mask range with the hashtag “daretomask” Myself and all the other bloggers got to listen to a skincare expert talk about the new mask range and to take a look at the new more premium collection ( we got to take a few things home which is so exciting) The Body Shop highlighted all the good they are doing with stopping animal testing and creating more sustainable products.

The himalayan charcoal range of products is supporting the endangered red panda. The Body Shop have consistently worked to protect our most endangered animals and the welfare of all animals. What’s even more exciting is that TBS are even working to sustain endangered plants. Their premium scent collection works with some of the most endangered plants that are used for perfumes all over the world. Normally you’d cut the plant and use it in perfume. Not The Body Shop have cover the plant and extract the smell is naturally releases and uses that in their premium perfume range. Not harming the plant at all.

What’s really refreshing about TBS is their continuos hard work in sustaining animal and plant habitats. They recently built bio-bridges and help discover a new bread of Orangutang. If you don’t know me personally then you don’t know I LOVE orangutang and really want to work on a sanctuary for a few months just helping out, helping save those big orange guys. TBS created Reggie a shower and bath luffa to raise awareness for the new orangutang which is such a worthy purchase.
I was given the strawberry shower gel as part of a set for christmas and i used it every day. It smells good enough to eat and the scent lingers on your skin. I’m so glad to have a mini one  in my possession. The balkan Juniper Body Wash is such a decadent smell that I’m waiting till have had a day off and am going to spend my time in the shower breathing this in and watching my skin get all soft. This on this product as the best five star hotel you’ll ever stay in.
The oils of life cleanser is a daily god send. I lightly exfoliate my face every day and follow with the cleanser and my skin looks so youthful, and bright.
I was given these items in a goodie bag to say thanks for coming and try out or products and see what you think. But because I love TBS and value them as creatives and innovators in the skincare world by going animal testing free. They are also expanding their vegan range. I got a little spendy and bought myself a few extras.
Oils of Life – A pea sized amount covers the face perfectly. The cleanser goes on line a think serum but washes off like water.
Moisturiser- Because that spring sun ain’t no joke, I don’t wanna crisp up at 24 thanks. It’s really tackled my rose cheeks and brought down the tension in my face.
Head bands red panda and bunny:  Putting on my makeup has never been so fun. I’m a bunny fanatic, Hayden can testify to this. If you aren’t already follow Reuben the rex on insta if you love bunnies. He’s adorable and I want to meet him. And the expand and give more to the red panda cause i got that head band too.
Face brush – Going into summer means my skin will suffer in makeup all day but not with this bad boy. A tiny little brush perfect to get the last of the day off.
Himalayan charcoal soap – again i just have to support the red panda and I’m really on the charcoal hype, what can i say.
 Pyjamas – Next
from the boxing day sales, but Next have possibly the best PJ collection ever.
Let me know what your favourite Body Shop pieces are and i’ll be sure to give them a go.
Thank you to @quaytobeauty on Instagram for inviting me and the Southampton Bloggers.

Healthier Happier | My Fitness Pal

Healthier Happier Amelia.

I’m back with an update for you all. The motivation to be healthier is in full swing, call it New Years resolution hysteria. But I’m doing it.

I’ve started using My Fitness Pal, where you add info about yourself, height, weight, how much you want to lose. Then you add what you eat, drink and your exercise in a day. A little table at the bottom tells you the carbs you’ve used in your daily allowance,as well as your  Sodium, fat, protein and sugar in take. It calculates the calories you’ll need to loose weight at a steady healthy rate. It’s very interesting to see what I’m eating.

Once you’ve completed your day it calculates what weight you’ll be in 5 weeks if you ate the same and did the same exercise. I’m very competitive so i’ve marked what weight I’ll be in 5 weeks. I’ll be weighing myself to see if I’m lighter.

If you aren’t aware of what you’re eating in a day and need a reminder that you have 1,620 calories for the day so put the 200g or chocolate for breakfast down. This is the perfect place for you! Also i’m not afraid to lose weight because My Fitness Pall is here to help me. It’s just the motivation I need to exercise too.

Proof that I’m being more active. The photo that I look this evening while out for a walk. (40 mins)

If you don’t have it yet, you should really sign up and get going. I’ll do an update in 5 weeks to see if I hit my goal, so stay posted x

English Pamper

English summer means nothing to us Brits with out a down poor of rain.

For me personally there is no better way to spend a day stuck indoors then to pamper myself with some goodies. Lush are the go to place for a little TLC. I popped into their original store in Poole and snapped up some treats, thank you to Rose who helped me out now end, sniffing pots and bottles, picking the right bath bomb, I could go on about how great she was, but you should go in and see for yourself.

DSCN0373I’m trying to make more of an effort in looking after my hair, I think having curly hair does take a lot of work but, I love my ringlets and waves. This Tangled hot oil hair treatment is just the thing to give my hair a little break from working. Just melt into a mug and work into your locks, leave for as long as you can and ta-dah!

DSCN0380-001Comforter is one of the best smelling Lush products ever! I could sniff the stuff all day ( disclosure: stiffed the bottle in the store a little to much) I lather this up with a bath ball and turn myself into a bath time snowman.

DSCN0374I really have no clue what this bath bomb is called but I love it! It  creates the best magic in your bath, lots of foam and bubbles.

^just look!!!!!!!

This is the thing I’m most excited about Pumice Power, I stand all day and at the end of my working week I can’t wait to give my feet a break. Pumice Power is an exfoliant so I don’t rub my feet to hard with it, otherwise they would be so sore. Once towed off my feet are so soft and refreshed.

I used the hot oil, bath bomb and the pumice power all at the same time. It was a totally pamper fest, I felt like Cleopatra or something.

have a nice day XO

#HealthierHappierAmelia

this year I’m learning to fall in love, with my body. My lifestyle over the years has changed, moving out of my teens and into my twenties has seen me go into the working world. Which has meant that I’ve made some bad habits. I’d eat what I wanted and lazed around after work. I would say that at this point I really didn’t like the way I felt about myself, I thought I was hideous ( truthfully, I’d cry a lot thinking about all the clothes I loved that didn’t fit me, how everyone around me was thin and out loving life, going on dates, going in holiday) 18589_10206179991551509_3991621876773393782_n

Finally I thought enough is enough, I don’t have to cry everyday. What’s the use in crying, I’m not actually sad. Around this revelation stage I want to see my oldest, loveliest friend in the whole world. We went out with a a guy I’d met once and have a fun time giggling away to ourselves and basically being totally ourselves. I thought to myself the next day that I should be laughing every day, creating stories and memories that would shape my future. ( the guy thing, didn’t last. That crashed and burned most spectacularly)

Moving forward I made a pact with myself to be active, my friend has a personal trainer. I’m not one for the gym. so thought I’d go running around my village. I would run every other day for a month and then go from there. Well a month flew by and I loved running. the Nike+ app was an amazing motivator. During this time I also took a look at my diet. I was living off sugar and carbs ( comfort food) and nothing else really. So I starting buying my favourite fruits, salads and healthier snacks. I turned my diet from all browns in colour to a rainbow of healthier potions. 11018919_10206219501859242_7744715563831111833_n

So here I am sat watching the news typing away to you over a stone lighter a million times happier. I went to Topshop a couple of weeks ago and tried on some clothes and they fit!! I could have cried with happiness. I run maybe twice a week eat a rainbow of food colours and can’t see myself going back to my old habits.

The whole point of doing #HealthierHappierAmelia to fill my body with fuel not food. To give my body the energy to keep up with me, and if I lose a bit of weight in the process, great, but that’s not the goal.11079351_10206613203312650_9043280612015178561_n-2

If I want to drink wine, I’ll have wine, if I want chocolate cake I’ll have it. It’s not about punishment its about pride and power.
