Monochrome Pumpkin Patch

Spooky scary skeletons.

October wouldn’t be complete without a little pumpkin patch trip. We returned for another year to Sopley P.Y.O. This year there were so many pumpkins and a festive display. Hayden and I went on an hours hunt for the perfect pumpkin for our lounge window. I wanted a ghost pumpkin ( a white one ) and Hayden wanted a perfect traditional orange one. We found lots of photo opportunities this year. I wanted to sit on the pile of pumpkins but ended up just perching as to not knock over the display.

Pattern clashing in the same colour family creates a more put together look. This whole look is monochrome but it doesn’t look boring or plain as the patterns are creating the moment. Sticking to the same colours pulls any look together.

BLUE PEACOAT AND DR MARTENS

Pulled out “that” coat for the first time this AW20. An amazing checked blue with hints of orange that really make me feel that Autumn is here. More of a street style look with Dr Marten boots and folded mom jeans. I’m always looking for new shoe combinations for my wardrobe and love that the jeans cut off just before the boots. Having long legs means you can really play around with length of jeans and dresses. An old favourite in my off shoulder burgundy jumper from a few years ago in H&M. I only with I’d bought it in more colours. Making a simple outfit more interesting by mixing textures.

“SHEETS”

Working on creativity while in isolation with my parents and grandma. The theme of this shoot was ‘sheets’. I really couldn’t find my creativity with this theme. It could be the current viral situation or just me getting in the way of myself. Anyway, I played around with the sheet for a while, wearing it, a la Roman costume, getting inside it for a dystopian bedroom photo. But nothing was working. I thaught I’d just leave it there. But that would be defeatist and really not who I am. So I moved the laundry basket and other things that didn’t work in the photo from the area and set about creating these shots. I used the ladder that’s normally in the space as my tripod ( I don’t have one, so unless Hayden takes my photos they are just propped up on various things) Ticked over to self timer and spent my time getting these movement shots. I love the simplicity of them. Wearing what I was that day, my hair in the most ridiculous top knot. I tided a few towels on the shelves to make it a little more aesthetic.

MEET BUNNY

Just Bunny and I laying in bed thinking about shit and getting philosophical together.

DRESS – H&M | BUNNY -TY

Meet Bunny, my childhood companion. I’ve never gendered Bunny so can’t really say “he” means a lot to me, or “she” got me through some interesting times. Bunny is just Bunny. Bunny used to have a voice (thanks mum) but over the years Bunny has become silent but in some ways has spoken to me more.

Inspired to be more creative inside as I try and keep myself (asthmatic) and my mother (parkinson’s) as safe as possible. I saw a photo on Instagram of a lady lying on the edge of the bed with a bear next to her. The concept really interested me and I wanted to recreate it with Bunny. I also wish in some way that Bunny was actually Hayden. I miss him so much at the moment. We are making efforts to keep everyone safe and reducing the amount of time we spend with each other. It’s hard. If we lived together right now it would be fine but keeping a distance from your love is difficult. I did see Hayden through the porch door this afternoon. Congratulating him on finishing his first placement.

Green Drop Waist Dress

Sitting in my favourite tourist trap, Trafalgar Square. Sat by the mermaids and water babies. Mermaids are my thing. I collected statues of them for years, Ariel was my favourite film, I love to swim. So the sculptures are special.  The two tailed creatures with their hair flowing.

Green drop waist dress from H&M. 1920’s ish vibes with modern bright green. A cuffed long sleeve and an above knee hem. Possibly my new favourite dress. Black tights and black boots for leg lengthening. Topped with my warmest coat, because London was COLD! We explored the city by foot, dodging the wind.

“sufferin succotash”

Second shoot in Mama Shelter London. Using s Sylvester mask this time. I knew I wanted to shoot this dress asap, so packed in while working away. I didn’t think I’d get an opportunity to shoot it, or even wear it. I’m so glad I got to do both. Shot after a long day on set. I should really have been tucked up in bed counting sheep. But I just had to share. An oversized polka dot shirt, yes please. H&M are my cryptonite, I tell you.

Staying in new places, really sparkes my creativity. Mama Shelter’s interior design composition really helped inspire the consept for these shots. Using the illuminated mirror and a little self timer, a filter edited on the Tezza app.

Points if you can spot the toothpaste tube.

Countryside Midi Dress

Weather permitting this would have been the best outfit for the sky. The sun was out, there were Disney clouds in the sky but it was WINDY!! The jumper came on, the heels were replaced with boots. Also, this look was going to be shot in a better location, a little more editorial but I guess my pato terrace is ok. I’m really looking into shooting more editorial content for my blog. It’s motivating my personal style to be more story lead, more costume-like. The clip/slide trend is heavenly and I found my old clips and threw my hair up into one.

This outfit/ daily look reminds me of a farmers wife in the ’50s going into the town to get supplies.
