Paris

I’ve just arrived back home after an amazing five whirlwind days in Paris. After long discussions about Paris as a city, holiday destination, the capital of France. Hayden and I have concluded that Paris is really never ending, in the best way. This trip we went for a little break and for Hayden to run the marathon. I spend marathon day shooting with Camille and running around the marathon course trying to catch a sighting of Hayden running. I did manage to catch a kiss off him just before he crossed the finish. It just proves to me that Paris is endlessly exciting and magical. When shooting with Camille I wanted a new location for these photographs. The Pont de Bir-Hakeim bridge is iconic and when shot from the right angle with the Eiffel Tower in the background is really is the perfect location for all the Parisian vibes.

Cycle Shorts

Cycle Shorts trending since before the last month of fashion week. Variations of cycle shorts are all around right now. I’m not 100% sold on them but they look amazing on other people. Leonie Hanne and Chiara look incredible. Worn as a muted look with a white dress shirt, vintage Gucci slides and a cream hand made cable knit cardigan. The vintage/Parisian theme is highlighted with a tortoiseshell sunglass.

Dress over Jeans

Dress – worn as top Thrifted | jeans – Primark | jacket – LOTD.com PR gift a while ago | bag – Yumi | trainers – Vans | Sunglasses – Primark

Contemplating if the weather is warm enough to wear dresses. Technically I am wearing a dress in these shots, but it’s tucked into some blue ripped jeans. The jeans are too big for me, but I lost the receipt so couldn’t return them or even exchange them ( thanks Primark ) And pink Vans that it looks like I’m never taking off, I did wear some cute metallic sandals but my feet were destroyed within 20 mins. Again wearing jeans, I’m trying so hard to not wear jeans. I’m finding them so boring at the moment and really stopping my styling abilities because they are too safe.

Fortified

Valentines Day is an opportunity for me to find my true north again. To refocus my attention on the things and people I love. Walking to a castle looking out on to the sea was a very fitting activity to do this Valentine’s day. This year Hayden and I are planning so many exciting life-changing things. So to show you this outfit at a forte fortifies my decisions. For my life and life with Hayden.

Minty

includeds gifted items

Found this forgotten part of a shopping centre walking through it the other day. I love the 80’s tiling, it’s a huge contrast to the rest of the centre. It’s been through a lot of modernisation, but this is the best part. The perfect place to showcase this mint pussy blouse I bought from a vintage store in Florence. The blouse is actually from Elena Miro, a plus size brand but whatever you know. Is a 16 is now plus size, cool?

I am so drawn to mint at the moment, often picking up knits and T’s in minty tones and shades whenever out shopping. But they were never right. I love the styling of this blouse though. The ruffled sleeves, long bow ties. Style bows undone for a more relaxed less office look. Less taking notes, more getting drinks. Tucked in to develop the style into frayed jeans. Also highlighting the ties and their length. The jacket was a gift from LOTD.com over a year ago ( new guidelines, how am I doing?) But have no obligation to post anything about it anymore apart from that it’s a sick jacket that I love. And buckle slippers from a vintage store in Florence.

Rose

At university, you make a lot of mood boards, I mean A LOT.  Colour pallets, mood boards, InDesign becomes your best friend. This post should have been called When Life Imitates Universtiy. The colour pallet in these shots and the shadowing are motivational (for me) to try and find new places to shoot. The location is as important as the outfit when blogging.

Pocketing, is that a word? Well, I’m seeing it all over and am so inspired. The utility styling of square pockets really elevates a basic t-shirt. I’m looking to create a serious pocket shirt collection.

Color Matte

The new Addition.

Blue toned lipstick, not Joey Tribbiani’s famous Japanese blue lipstick commercial, more Mädchen Amick in the early 90’s. Her strong brows, messy long hair and deep red/brown lips are so much of an inspiration right now. This Color Matte lipstick in 636 ( Mahogany Stud) from Loreal Paris is exactly what I was looking for. The blue tone makes your teeth look white so a bonus really. Stays on almost all day. I tested it out at work and it lasted pretty well. From talking to drinking and eating the staying power was pretty great.

The packaging is chic as ever, aged black leather style with gold hardware, it’s stepped right out of the 90’s for sure. The most satisfying click close too. I believe my mother had a similar lipstick in this packaging, it was so elegant and dramatic.

Just Call Me Barbarella

A visual representation of what a spontaneous outfit choice looks like. I’m normally someone who’s pretty good at pre-planning what to wear to an event. I look on Instagram for the location, who else will be there etc. While thinking about what I have in my wardrobe that will suit me and the situation.  But this time I grabbed items and dashed out the door on the morning to get to work. I think the look came out reasonably well considering. I did feel a little like Barbarella in the boots and short dress. But I love to style with character.

The newest addition to my wardrobe are these OTK boots, a Zara sales purchase. This 60’s style black mini dress has been the best LBD purchase I’ve ever made and it was from a supermarket. Yeah, that’s right, a bloody supermarket. To top it all off this Rowan Originals cardigan has handed round the women in my family every few years. It’s the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, but with a cardigan.

Knitted Dress & Beret | Düsseldorf

The perfect knitted dress for winter comes from Reversed, bought on a whim for something cosy to wear on a warmer day in Düsseldorf. The relaxed fit meant tights wear easily worn underneath without there being bunching. Black boots to elevate the look and a black DKNY beret for added style. Possibly my most Christmasy outfit during the whole trip. I have more shots of this look in a different location and want to share them with you but will create a different post for them.

Topshop Stripes at Kö-Bogen | Düsseldorf

Topshop does some of the best-cropped T-shirts on the high street. This stripey get up will be moving into my summer wardrobe ASAP. Worn Over a turtleneck because German winters are no joke. Thermal socks worn under my jeans pulled to my knees helped keep me warm all holiday.
