Denim Trend X Pinafore

Dungarees have been in every store these past few years. Each season brings a new twist to the game. I’m really into this trend but did’t want to look like every Bert and Harry walking down the street in dungarees so I scooped up this little gem from a vintage kilo sale.

A denim pinafore.

If you’ve not been to a kilo sale you have to go, you pay by the weight of the item and come away with something no one else has. They are the perfect way of sprucing your wardrobe without hitting the bank to hard.

I went full 90’s mixing the denim pinafore with a striped t-shirt, trainers and colourful sport socks. The a-line dress with the pockets is so 90’s and the little strap on the side.

Have you guys been on the Bournemouth Wheel yet? the views are spectacular.

Yellow Accents

I love the yellow of my sunglasses mixed with the yellow of my top and finished off with my yellow gold shoes. A super yellow themed outfit. Yellow isn’t a colour I thought I could get away with, with my hair and skin tone but I absolutely love the combo.

I can’t take these shoes off, they are so beautiful, I think they spice up any outfit.  I get the odd compliment when I wear them too, which is a bonus.

I made this silk holder top out of a vintage scarf when i was about 16 and love it. The vibrant yellow/green and the bold flower pattern are a needed statement to this outfit.

Burgundy Beret

There are so many different ways to wear a beret, believe me I’ve tried them all. A jaunty angle looked best for this outfit. I love mixing pinks and reds, I’ve styled them before in this post. This time I went for a mens red plaid shirt with some black straight leg jeans. I took my jacket, but it was for to hot to wear it even to take photos.

I feel like this look is as grunge as I go. I just submitted an essay at university about punk and have been looking at people dressed like I am today for weeks. I pulled out my 10 year old Converse that I got in Florida while visiting Disney, They are all faded and tattered. To me they are such a statement piece.

Plaid Shirt Photoshoot

In the studio playing around with lighting for this outfit post. I’ve only really used a tungsten light once before and love the moody feel of the lighting. My current class is about presentation and we have to create two shots for our portfolio and this is just practice. The light was so hot I wore my new sunglasses. Talk about attitude!

Not a Gamer | Nintendo Switch

I’m not a gamer or someone who really looks to play games for hours, my boyfriend however is the opposite. So of course he pre ordered the Nintendo Switch and we waited at midnight to collect it. I believe that he has or had every Nintendo console and hand help (but I could be totally wrong)

I watched the boyfriend play Zelda Breath of the Wild and was really surprised at how good it was. The graphics are really great. The last time I really played a game was when Spiro Year of the Dragon first came out on Playstation 1, so there is a little context for you. I watched as he collected items and fought monsters. I was hooked, I kept stopping my work to just watch.  I thought it really did look like an interactive movie and really wanted to get my hands on it for myself.

But that hasn’t happened, yet. I have how ever played 1 2 Switch which hilarious it’s very much like the Wii Play games, with better graphics and more controller skill. Each little movement of the controller is recorded. I think this time around Nintendo have wanted create more of a party game. It really bring out my competitive side. Your are meant to stand face to face with your opponent and compete in different games.

Who will answer the phone first?

Safe Crack is one of the games that really shows off what the controllers can do. While holding the controller vertical you rotate, and stop when the vibrations feel different to crack the safe. I love it!

This is the adapted hand held controller. The black piece you can take off when you connect it back to the console. The black add on is so that it’s easier to use the other buttons when playing.

This is how big the Switch is compared to my hand, it’s so small and light weight. It has a little kick stand so you can prop it when out and about.

A game that was really hyped up to me by my boyfriend was Snipper Clips, It’s a puzzle game  and you have to work together to complete all the different puzzles. You jumper on each other or make shapes.  The little beings that you control make the cutest faces when you get cut out or crouch.

To Round off, I really want to get a Switch for myself. I’ve enjoyed playing this console and want to play a lot more, and I want to get my hands on Zelda ( sort of because I want to beat my boyfriend into completing it, sort of because I think I’ll really enjoy playing it)

Thank you for reading my ‘Not a Gamer’ post on the Nintendo Switch.

Have you played it? what’s been your favourite game so far?

Trying Colour Blocking

I love colour clashes and seeing Victoria Beckham colour blocking really got me in the mood to go all out on colour.

Wearing a bright green shirt against a two toned blue jumper and my orange anorak. orange, blue and green and definitely my favourite colours and wearing them together just looks a little more adventurous then usual. I finally got my hands on my Lulu Guinness bag ( if you follow me on twitter, you’ll understand) A pair of cropped blue jeans to show off my fishnet socks and done.

I spend a couple of hour in Lymington ( where these photos were taken) and met up with my best and oldest friend. We’ve known each other since we both lived in Germany. Wandered around stepping in and out of shops. We had lunch at Oskubox which is a nordic cafe a complete world away from English countryside. Nordic themed dishes, different coffees and exposed woods.

Adding another tone to this colour blocking outfit, I painted my nails with Kiko’s melon polish and love how bright they are. I think it’s going to be the colour of my summer.

Oversized Pink Shirt

I live so close to London and don’t venture in as much as I would like. But yesterday I spent the day in the big smoke and it was fantastic, Stomping around Bond street and Oxford Street. I went solo and met up with a few fellow bloggers so a little late lunch and a book swap.

(Photos not taken in London)

Think this is the first I’ve consciously bought something pink to wear. I love the dress style of this shirt and the band across the bottom adds a frill. It’s definitely one of the more girlie pieces in my wardrobe.

Also leopard print is everywhere at the moments, so I dug out this coat with it’s on trend tulle trimming. Adding accessorise like my mirrored sunglasses and my shoes make this look a little more special. I loving the fishnet trend and am so excited to wear it with everything again. I couldn’t get my hands on a black pair or fishnet socks so I got white. I think they add another element to the outfit.

Birthday Bowling and Bonas

I always cherish the times I get to spend time with my friend Rianne. She’s moved back to London, so I see even less of her. But we did get to spend a couple of hours together and we celebrated my birthday. I thought I’d share what she every kindly gave me for my 23rd, because she has great taste and I think it’s kind of tradition here on The Curly Haired Girl. Remember this post?

We had lunch at Chiquito I had the Spicy Chicken Texan Torta, which as delicious with skin on fries. Rianne had a burrito. We drank tea ‘something’ cocktails, then a churro milkshake before we headed to bowling. I of course won because I’m to competitive.

Mini hair clips

The motivational quotes ever girl needs.

The chiquest knuckle duster you’ll ever see.

mango lip balm.

Delicate miss matched stud earrings.

When we were in primary school together I’m sure we first bonded over our joint love for rabbits.

Camelia necklace (love the name) I wore it as soon as I saw it. Rianne really knows my taste.

I love the marble decoration and the pomegranate bath marbles smell amazing, I can’t wait to try them.

I’ve been truly spoilt, thank you.

I think I might have to make Rianne my personal shopper, because I love everything here.

Thank you for reading, I’m off to uni today.
