If you have followed over from my old blog you would have already known that I can sew. I don’t have the time to do much now, which really disappoints me, but I’m making an effort to get back into it.
This is the dress I made for my final A-level exam a couple of years ago. I loved making this dress, spending 3 days in silence sewing and creating. It was total heaven!
My inspiration came from shattered and broken glass and mirrors. I used thick denim (now very crumpled from being stored away) as gagged pieces and the squares are the reflective pieces of glass and mirror. Each piece of denim and broken glass are completely different. Glass shatters in chaos
(deep I know)
I saw something similar to this on my first trip to Topshop in Oxford street. I couldn’t afford the top which was about £30 so with the help of my mum I made this instead. It’s a vintage scarf cut in half then sew together to make a wrap holter top. I’ve worn it so so much. It’s started to get faded but the sun now but it makes me love it all the more.
Thanks for taking a trip down memory lane with me, style posts will resume soon.
Love Amelia, XO.
Another instalment of what I’ve been up to in the world of blogging before I created thecurlyahairedgirl.org.uk. If you’re new you may not know this but I’ve been blogging since I was 15 and have had some great opportunities come my way, I thought I’d share them with you.
In 2012 I was fortunate enough to attend Clothes Show live as part of their press team, which was amazing. This was the first time I had ever been to anything like this and was blown away by everything. I saw work shops, celebrity brands, cat walks music, stands and so much more. I found some great brands that I still love today.
I was fascinated by the university catwalks more then the huge show. Being able to see new and emerging designers showcase their ideas was a true source of inspiration, and exciting to see.
Can you believe that I still have the dress I wore that day? I wore it on my birthday here.

Chinese new year is just around the corner and Bournemouth are in full celebration mode. Boscombe have put on Chinese winter wonderland. I headed over to sample some delicious food. There were events going on over both days but we got completely distracted by the food stalls.
Chinese pork bun/Cha siu bao which was so delicious the puffy bun was light and the perfect bed for the sweet hot barbecue pork inside.
I don’t remember what this is called but let me tell you it was so so delicious. Rise, boiled egg, star anise, beef. My little Nephew who’s a fussy eater loved this dish so much i couldn’t feed him fast enough.
These was a sort of asian omelette with squid in i think, coated in a generous amount of spice.
Followed very quickly by Korean glass noodles that weren’t my favourite but mum loved them. They were such a success that I wasn’t quick enough to get a snap of them.
Washed down with Yobu’s mango bubble tea with lychee balls.
None of us had ever had bubble tea before, now we are all huge fans. Some enjoyed it way more then others. Little man loved the lychee balls in the tea that you chew when you drink. All the food venders are restaurant owners in and around Bournemouth.
Don’t forget that Chinese new year is on 8th February and I hope you are all going to celebrate in some way.

I celebrated my 22nd birthday with my lovely sister and great friend Hangqing, by going to Wagamama, it’s definitely one of my favourite places to eat. I try and order something different every time.
It’s clear that the ramen went to our heads! We headed off to Sprinkles for an ice cream coma, but no one should ever have to see those photos.

When you take creative classes there are a lot of fellow class mates around you that want your help.
A few of the guys have been making short films and somehow I’ve wound up being their makeup artist. I’m not a make up artist, not do I pretend to be. I’ve told the guys this on numerous occasions but apparently they have faith in me to do the job.
I was given a brief of, face paint, black and white and a domestic cat ( that was pretty much it) I’m most definitely the sort of person that wants all of the details about everything before I do something. I love to ask questions.
I can’t take credit for the costume. Here is my guinea pig, I mean Dan!
All this face paint was for a music video, which is very cool and very scary. Having to work for other people is very stressful but super exciting. I spent the day watching the production of the shoot unfold, and I loved it.
My research consisted of watching every cat makeup tutorial i could get my hands on and looking at black and white cats.
As of Wednesday i’m now 22, it’ been the most amazing 21 years and I can’t wait to see what happens next.
I spend the afternoon in class h, which was great because I got to see your friends.
I love this outfit because it incorporates all the things I love to wear, grey, denim and a leather jacket. Muted grey tones are perfect for me in winter. Having pretty much no tan i’ve found it suites my skin tone much better, and of course my favourite popcorn necklace.

I’ve always wanted to take photography classes and since my course allows that I’ve fallen in love with photography. I try and think about what I’ve learnt in class and recreate that on this blog (my old site was full of bad photos)
On this rare occasion I found myself on the other side of the lens, in-front of the class ( it’s quite intimidating having 15/20 people looking at you)
Working out some interesting lighting techniques was so interesting. I think the shots of me are hilarious because I never look this nervous having my photo taken.
What I really liked about the photos is the focus on my jacket, all the details are highlighted by shadow and light. The green being off set against my hair and matching my eyes.
I want to create photos like these more often for my blog. Don’t they look so much more interesting!?
Hope you enjoyed reading,

I never thought I’d wear a knitted dress, I always thought I had the wrong body shape for it. But when I tried this Topshop number on I fell in love. And it’s one of the trends for ss/16!!
I’ve dressed this knit up with a pair of knee high black boots and some serious straight hair. But this dress would look equally as good with a high pony tail, ballet flats and bare legs.

It’s become a tradition for me and Stacey to head over to Sprinkles in Landsdowne for a little girlie chin wag. After my usual choice of a scoop of mint and pistatio, we walked into Bournemouth centre. We were greeted by the most glorious winter light display.
Aren’t these Snapchat photos just a testament to how serious our conversations are? What can I say, ice cream is my everything.
As you walk through the main path in the gardens your way is lit by giant snowflakes.
Every now and again you’d walk up upon lit door frames. If I wasn’t so chicken and super aware of all the people around I would have jumped at the chance to stand inside the doorframe and posed to my hearts content (next time) we walked over to the out door bar, but it was rammed to the rafters so moved on.
I can’t wait to go back for anything exploration and adventure, maybe I’ll even try my hand at the ice skating, maybe?
